Microstructure via Centrifugation

Microfluidics has emerged to a distinct new field, especially for Lab on A Chip Systems. But even with state-of-the-art prototyping procedures, a large number of manual process steps are still needed from design to the fabrication of a microfluidic device. With ZentriForm, a step is done towards an automated fabrication procedure, at least for the rapid-prototyping procedures based on PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane). The casting of PDMS, the elimination of air bubbles trapped in the PDMS and the curing process of PDMS are all done in one step inside the centrifuge. The microfluidic chips show excellent contour accuracy and exact height, which can be changed with special inserts.
